SUMMARY:BRAIN BITES | Why should we preserve large city trees in Karlsruhe?
DESCRIPTION:Livestream \n\n\n\nOur BRAIN BITES series provides you with a bite of inspiration during your lunch break. From 12:30 to 13:30\, you can listen to an exciting keynote speech by innovative thinkers\, then get rid of your most pressing questions in a Q&A and exchange ideas with each other. \n\n\n\n\n\nKarlsruhe is becoming warmer and drier as climate changes in southwest Germany. Large city trees often become the first target for removal during infrastructure projects. At the same time\, the poor vitality of city trees due to climate change impacts\, diseases\, and early aging of trees also sometimes contributes to the premature removal of trees. In this presentation\, Dr. Somidh Saha will show the importance of large trees in cooling and biodiversity conservation in urban areas (e.g.\, streets\, cemeteries\, and parks) and provide some outlook on improving arboriculture and tree care so that the large trees can be kept in the city for a longer time. He will provide examples from the concluded GrüneLunge\, ongoing URBORETUM\, and other research projects. \n\n\n\nBring your lunch\, grab a refreshing cold drink from the intro café and make yourself comfortable! \n\n\n\nWith its short\, inspiring talks – from science and business to global topics – the format is aimed at everyone who wants to discover new perspectives and ideas – from employees\, entrepreneurs\, students\, young people\, retirees to science nerds. \n\n\n\nOur mission: to encourage the transfer of knowledge and open up new perspectives through the impulses of different topics and people. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to an inspiring snack and chat! \n\n\n\nYou can’t be there? No problem! We always stream our BRAIN BITES live via YouTube. \n\n\n\nThe event will be held in English. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nFirst come\, first bite.
